About Us

I guess you can say being a foodie is in en Ville founder, Geoffrey Johnson’s DNA. After all, his father was a chef and his mother and grandfather were invested in the industry too. Indeed, food, in all its passionate incarnations, runs through Geoffrey’s British blood. But who would have thought the small, intimate business he founded thirty years ago would today be considered one of the most preeminent caterers in all of Toronto.

Though it’s not hard to see why. More than just a provider of mouth-watering culinary delights, since it’s inception in 1981, en Ville has established itself as every client’s event planner, designer, music supervisor, creative caretaker and best friend—all rolled into one.

You see, en Ville’s hardworking staff is invested in you and your uniquely special occasion, stopping at nothing to ensure its spectacular success. And that commitment goes way beyond the menu. Because, let’s be honest, providing great food is one thing. Pulling off a great event is quite another.

Geoffrey Johnson

Classically trained at The Dorchester Hotel London, executive chef of leading-edge restaurants in Europe and executive chef with the Four Seasons Group in Canada and USA. A champion of local product and cuisine, Geoffrey has been creating stellar events at en Ville for over 30 years.

Daniel Johnson

Daniel has been with en Ville in one capacity or another since high school. Wearing many different hats, Daniel knows the off-premise event and catering business like the back of his oven mitt. He’s coordinated all types of events from AGMs and Fundraising Galas to Product launches and Summer Barbeques. Some of his most memorable events featured hand-rolled cigars, an Aston Martin and a pink chocolate fountain for J-Lo!

René Kramer

Hailing from Zurich, Switzerland, during his qualifying year, René was acclaimed Top Apprentice of Mövenpick Restaurants, allowing him to choose any Môvenpick worldwide in which to practice his art. He chose Toronto. After gaining culinary management experience with the Four Seasons Hotel group, René moved to Bistro 990 before joining en Ville in 1989, bringing an innovative European style of cuisine rarely matched in our city.

Michelle Jerome

Michelle has devoted her entire working life to our industry. Experienced in all facets of catering, Michelle specializes in and thoroughly enjoys the wedding experience. Case in point: a wall of pictures, thank-you letters and congratulatory messages adorn Michelle's office. Also well-versed in corporate hosting, Michelle specializes in larger events, pulling each one off without a hitch.

Kaori Noguchi

Kaori’s affair with en Ville began 10 years ago as a blushing bridal client.  After living out her dream as Martha-Stewart-in-Waiting while planning her wedding, she decided that the event design was her true calling, and, under the mentorship of Christine Emerson, joined en Ville in 2002.  During her decade in the industry, she honed her skill in all things catered, including 3 years in Kosher cuisine and events.  There she creatively brought the Haute Cuisine experience within the confines of the Kosher rules to many of Toronto’s discerning Jewish clientele.  Now back at en Ville, she brings her passion and love of food to every event she designs, from an intimate dinner for two, a Kosher-style Simcha for several hundred, to corporate gala receptions.

Lesa Mickalow

As a Certified Wedding and Event Planner, Lesa is bringing forth a passion for this industry and a drive for excellence that shows with every single event she lays her hands on!  Lesa believes that outstanding Customer Service is the backbone to any business and she delivers 110% with each and every client. Being involved in the Hospitality Industry for over 10 years has provided Lesa with the tools to be successful in executing beautiful events for both Corporate and Domestic clients.

Debbie Stafford

Debbie is a certified event planner who has a passion for people and managing all aspects of an event. With over 15 years experience organizing, golf tournaments, corporate events and celebrity parties, Debbie’s dedication to ensuring the best customer experience has earned her a seat with the en Ville family.

Kam Naik

Kam is the man. The man who takes loving care of en Ville’s boardroom clients - from initial inquiry through recommending a suitable menu for the meeting or reception, and ensuring that the order is delivered on time, and complete. Originally from the U.K., Kam loves Canadian cuisine and has embraced our local foods. He does like to cook, but prefers the result more than the actual eating.

Christine Emerson

Christine was previously the most famous and successful en Ville account executive before leaving en Ville to take the helm of the International Caterers Association. Christine is now back with us on a consulting basis. For very large and complex events Christine would be pleased to help plan your galas and conferences.

Viki O'Hagan

A member of the en Ville family for over 15 years, Viki's role as controller means her finger remains on the pulse of en Ville and the industry as a whole. Well-versed in every detail of event production, in en Ville's early days, Viki supplemented her accounting duties with the handling of daily catering accounts and the service staff department. A trusted veteran of our business, few know en Ville as well as Viki does!

Buying local is a huge part of our philosophy, it’s part of who we are, we want to bring a culinary excellence and economy to utilizing local foods; it’s important on so many fronts.

Invested in our community

en Ville is a strong supporter of the community and works hard to see it thrive. Our affiliations are many and the investment runs deep. Our founder, Geoffrey Johnson, for example, is past-president and member of the Rotary Club of Toronto and past-president and board member of the Drop-in Centre for homeless people in Shelbourne and Dundas, two organizations dedicated to improving the lives of the less fortunate.

Most recently, in partnership with STOP, Geoffrey teaches marginalized youth the benefits of eating well. The hope is by educating young eaters about the difference between real and industrialized food, they will make healthier choices. The lessons have long-term appeal, says Geoffrey. “If you want to create change in society, a good place to start is with the kids,” he explains. “If you could just change the kids’ thought processes it’s a win win win.”

Finally, as a preferred caterer of Evergreen Brick Works, a heritage site that’s being transformed into an international showcase for urban sustainability and green design, Geoffrey’s investment in community is growing even stronger.
